Our Philosophy

The Montessori Method

Founded by Dr. Maria Montessori in the early 1900s, the Montessori method is built on the belief that every child is a natural learner. At Triton Montessori Educare in Auckland, New Zealand, we honour this legacy by creating environments where curiosity leads the way.

Our Auckland classrooms embrace child-led exploration, mixed-age groupings, and hands-on learning materials. Children move at their own pace, discovering the joy of learning through purposeful activity and self-directed discovery.

What Guides Us

Our Values

Independence

We encourage children to do things for themselves, building confidence and self-reliance through carefully designed activities and a supportive environment.

Community

Our centre is a warm, inclusive whānau where children, families, and educators collaborate with mutual respect and shared purpose.

Respect

Every child is valued as a unique individual. We honour each learner's pace, interests, and cultural background in our Auckland centre.

Joy in Learning

We cultivate environments where curiosity is celebrated, mistakes are embraced, and the love of discovery is nurtured every single day.

Kiwi Room Teacher

Kia ora, I'm Jean, a Qualified ECE Teacher originally from China and now living locally in Sunnynook. I'm thrilled to be part of the Triton Montessori team, supporting our tamariki and whānau through respectful care and a shared passion for learning. Inspired by Te Whāriki and Montessori, I see tamariki as capable learners and focus on fostering independence, encouraging them to "help me do it by myself" so every child feels a deep sense of belonging and wellbeing. As my motto goes, "Mā te huruhuru ka rere te manu" — with feathers, the bird can fly. Outside the Kiwi Room, I love art, gardening, music, travelling, and yoga, and I'm a proud cat mum to two kittens.
